Count Me In: Become a 2026-2027

Annual membership in The Arc Ontario connects you to a community of nearly 100,000 advocates across New York State -- and this year, it's completely free. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, all it takes is your name, email, and address. If you're 18 or older and care about the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, you belong here. Join us by July 30. (Membership valid through July 2027.)

Why Membership Matters

Membership is the basic foundation on which every Chapter and the State Organization was founded. Membership can fulfill many Chapter needs, such as volunteers for Chapter board of directors, program and service committees, community volunteer support, manpower, and energy for fundraising campaigns, public awareness, special events, and other important activities.

As Membership increases, so does the Chapter’s voice and strength at local, state, and national levels.

Members provide clout! A large membership means a louder voice is heard by local and state legislators and national policymakers.

We need to provide the opportunity for more people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to have access to programs and services, a say in advocacy efforts, and awareness of The Arc New York/The Arc presence.

We need a better informed public. Awareness is a product of membership, and awareness is the first step to creating society-wide acceptance of people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

Membership is as important today as it was in 1949. With a collective Chapter membership of nearly 100,000, our ability to advocate on behalf of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is strong and effective. Members equal constituents which is important to legislators.

The more members, the greater the influence!
